Danfoss VLT 2800 Inverter Drives

VLT® HVAC Drive - 1.1kW to 450kW

The VLT® HVAC Drive has been designed specifically for fan, pump and compressor applications, especially within the building services environment. As an application specific drive, dedicated to applications within the air conditioning market, the VLT® HVAC Drive is the world’s leading HVAC drive. Power sizes range from 1.1kW to 450kW in both IP20/21 and IP55 compact enclosure styles.
VLT®HVAC Drive Features

User Centred Design - Programming the VLT® HVAC Drive is child’s play. From the initiation of the design process, Danfoss design engineers spent weeks ‘in the shoes’ of the end users. The result is the extremely user friendly and intuitive award winning human-machine interface that reflects familiarity with mobile phone use. The graphical display also offers fewer codes, more clear text, fewer rows of numbers and more graphs. All drives ratings can be programmed with a common, award winning, detachable, alpha-numeric keypad.

Automatic Energy Optimiser (AEO) - ensures maximum energy savings by optimising the motor’s magnetic field under all load conditions. This feature also simplifies drive set-up and minimises motor noise levels.

Sleep Mode - In this mode the drive detects situations with low or zero flow. Instead of continuous operation, it boosts system pressure and then stops to save energy and starts again when the pressure falls below the lower set-point.

Serial Communications - VLT® HVAC Drive offers compatibility with Modbus RTU, METASYS and SIEMENS FLN as standard and can be delivered with the Building Services open protocols of BACnet and Lonworks as built in options.

Wide Enclosure Choice - The VLT® HVAC Drive is available in IP20 and IP55 enclosures as standard. IP20 ‘bookshelf’ designs are available for high-density panel installations and the ultra-compact IP55 enclosures are easily mounted inside an HVAC unit or control panel. The optional IP66 protection class requires no cabinet at all.

Fire Override Mode - In Fire Override mode, the VLT® HVAC Drive, in the event of fire, will continue to run until eventual self-destruction. It can be set to maintain a higher level of air pressure than in other parts of the building, ensuring that fire escapes remain clear of smoke.

Stand-alone Functionality - The VLT® HVAC Drive provides intelligent stand-alone functionality via :-

* Built-in ‘real time’ clock
* Smart Logic Controller
* 4 auto-tuned PID controllers
* Programmable scheduled maintenance function

Pump Cascade Control - The pump cascade controller is the most sophisticated on the market but is standard on VLT® HVAC Drive. It distributes running hours evenly across all pumps, keeping wear and tear on individual pumps to a minimum and ensuring that all pumps are in great shape.

Power Factor - The VLT® HVAC Drive maintains near unity power factor at all loads and speeds and minimises the need for power factor correction equipment, giving both space and financial savings.

EMC - Electromagnetic Compatibility - Electromagnetic ‘noise’ is an important consideration when ensuring compatibility between frequency converters and other building services equipment, computers or other sensitive equipment in the building environment. VLT® HVAC Drive meets all international standards on EMC compatibility on both emissions and susceptibility.

Harmonics - The importance of chokes and filters in all medium and high power applications cannot be overstated. The chokes and filters integral to the VLT® HVAC Drive ensure that mains harmonics are minimised while output cable length to the motor is maximised, eliminating the need for output line chokes. Motors do not have to be de-rated to allow for the harmonic content of the output waveform and the output circuit can if necessary be broken under load without auxiliary control switching or concern for switching surges.
