On the server side, Intel filled out the low end of its Xeon—the 3000 sequence—with three quad-core parts plus a dual-core part. As with the desktop parts, the dual-core part is available this month, while the quads are delayed until later in the quarter.
Processor Speed L2 cache FSB Speed
Quad-core Xeon X3360 2.83GHz 12MB 1333MHz
Quad-core Xeon X3350 2.66GHz 12MB 1333MHz
Quad-core Xeon X3320 2.5GHz 6MB 1333MHz
Dual-core Xeon E3110 3GHz 6MB 1333MHz
In terms of performance, the new Xeon parts should further strengthen Intel's position versus AMD's Barcelona (which is still MIA in the wider retail channel). The power picture remains largely unchanged, as the FB-DIMMs are still the main culprit in keeping Intel's server platform's wattage numbers up there.
